Simon has been in the property industry since 1983 when he joined a mixed practice in Stratford upon Avon and commenced study through the College of Estate Management. He completed a correspondence course in 1989 and the assessment of professional competence (APC) in 1990.
He became a director then partner in a major regional property management company, gaining wider business and departmental management experience, with a particular focus on delivery of quality professional services within team environments to both private and corporate clients.
Simon joined Shaw & Co in 2021 and along with Matt Gawne is responsible for the surveying team and the group surveying panel. Appointed Director and a member of the board, Simon is also a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a RICS Registered Valuer. Outside work he enjoys cycling, fishing and driving his classic car.

Matthew completed an undergraduate degree in Estate Management in 2011 following that with a Postgraduate Masters in Property Development with first class honours.
Matthew joined Shaw & Company in 2012 as a trainee General Practice Surveyor then qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2015. He is also an RICS Registered Valuer.
Appointed Director and a member of the board, Matthew is responsible for the day to day management of Shaw & Co.
His main duties are, Insurance Reinstatement Cost Assessments, Lease Extension and Collective Enfranchisement Valuation, Rent Reviews, Schedule of Dilapidations, Service Charge Apportionment, and Red Book Valuations.
Matt`s spare time is spent with his family and he also enjoys a spot of golf as well as swimming, cycling and playing football.

Technical Chartered Building Surveyor

Steve has been a Chartered Surveyor for over 20 years and is now team Technical Surveyor. Prior to joining Shaw & Co led the direct building services management team of one of London’s largest and most renown estates before moving on to form his own Practice.
He has extensive experience notably in estate management for public schools including their residential, academic and sports portfolios. He has undertaken the Landlord and Tenant responsibilities for private estates across London and the Home Counties, along with the development and management of leading charities and their building portfolios.
Steve is a MRICS Chartered Surveyor and member of the Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings- SPAB. He counts himself lucky that his work is almost a full time hobby.

Richard Joined Shaw & Company in June 2015 and has over 40 years’ experience working primarily in London and the South East in a broad range of Building Surveying roles.
His experience includes development, refurbishment and cyclical maintenance of commercial, institutional, educational and residential property. He is experienced in contract administration, Party Wall matters, planned preventative maintenance reports and building pathology.
Outside work Richard enjoys dog walking, house refurbishment, running and gardening.

Terrent is a knowledgeable and rounded Building Surveyor with over 17 years of experience within the construction industry both in the Residential and Commercial sectors. His specialisms include Building Surveys, Project Management, Construction co-ordination, Planning & Building Consent and Party Wall Management.
He commenced training with the Chartered Surveying Training Trust (CSTT) while working in private practice, before achieving a degree in building surveying at London South Bank University. In 2013 he moved to a major Housing Association as Senior Building Surveyor working on many of their landmark commercial and residential developments projects.
Terrent joined Shaw & Company in October 2016. He is a Chartered Construction Manager, holds membership with the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) along with the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) and is currently working towards his APC to become a Chartered Surveyor.

Izabela joined what is now the Vegner Group in 2018 where she worked in the Business Development team. In February 2020 she moved to Shaw & Company and is currently undertaking insurance reinstatement cost assessments, lease extension valuations, rent reviews and planning applications.
Izabela completed her first degree in Planning & Spatial Management before achieving a masters in International Real Estate and Planning at University College London. She is currently studying towards her APC in order to progress from Assoc RICS to full chartered status. She has a broad background within the property industry, having worked in various roles including management and business development.

Ben joined Shaw & Co in 2019 bringing with him over 30 years’ experience in the built environment within the South West and Wales regions of which seven were spent as a property manager at regional management level.
He gained an MSC in Building Surveying in 2016 and been involved in project management, production of multi-scheduled Service Charge Budgets, lease reviews, planned preventative maintenance reports and refurbishment projects for both commercial and residential clients.
Ben has the ability to provide a broad spectrum of building surveying services to Vegner Group clients. He is currently studying to become MRICS.
When not at work he is family focussed and also enjoys open water swimming and hiking.
